(HOWARD, SD) – Horizon Health Foundation recently received a $22,000 matching grant from SDN Communications and its Members (Alliance Communications, Golden West Communications, West River Cooperative Telephone Company, Santel Communications, Venture Communications Cooperative, Interstate Telecommunications Cooperative, Midstate Communications, and James Valley Communications) as a part of the Foundation’s upcoming Giving Tuesday celebration.
This year’s goal for Giving Tuesday is to raise $30,000 in one day by welcoming 22 new donors to join the $22-a-month club. For each Horizon community represented by a new $22-a-month club donor, SDN and its Members will match the donation with a gift of $1,000, up to $22,000, to represent each community. All proceeds raised will help remove barriers to care such as transportation, cancer screenings, and behavioral, medical, and dental health care expenses for patients in need.
“Horizon’s mission of ‘keeping communities well’ aligns perfectly with SDN’s Members in that they are serving the same constituents in our rural communities across South Dakota,” said Ryan Punt, Chief Executive Officer of SDN Communications. “This alignment, coupled with SDN’s position as the premier connectivity provider delivering UPTIME, made this an easy decision for SDN and its Members to offer this support to Horizon. We are excited to play a role in removing any barriers that exist for those needing access to healthcare services offered by Horizon.”
Horizon Health Foundation is encouraging individuals to impact friends and neighbors in their community by keeping local health centers open and thriving by joining the $22-a-month club now through Tuesday, November 29th.
Horizon Health Foundation is participating in South Dakota Gives’ fifth annual Giving Tuesday #ForSouthDakota campaign. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s Giving Tuesday #ForSouthDakota will take place on Tuesday, November 29th. It’s a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. For the fifth year, #ForSouthDakota is uniting South Dakotans to celebrate generosity in their state.
“SDN Communications and its members has the most extensive fiber-optic network in the area, moving voice, data, internet and video over a 50,000-mile fiber-optic network,” said Tracy Pardy, Executive Director at Horizon Health Foundation. “Their investment and commitment to helping Horizon Health Care patients in our 28,000 square-mile footprint in rural and frontier communities across South Dakota changes lives. Operating 32 medical, dental, and behavioral health care clinics in 22 communities takes a team of 306 committed employees and several organizations like SDN and its members who support our mission of inspiring and empowering our patients. We are grateful for their partnership.”
Mark your calendars for Giving Tuesday on November 29th, 2022, and consider joining the $22-a-month club to support your friends and neighbors in need.
