(Howard, SD) – The Horizon Health Foundation is excited to introduce Jeff Burg of Wessington Springs and Glen Marshall of Vermillion, as its two newest board members.
Jeff Burg inherited a commitment to public service and dedication to the rural lifestyle from his parents Jim and Bernice Berg. He manages the family’s Firesteel Ranch in Wessington Springs with his brother Cory. He serves as a director for Farm Credit Services of America.
He has shared his expertise in business management, gained from growing and maintaining a successful agricultural corporation, with the boards of south Dakota Corn Growers, the Wessington Springs Township and Springs Country Club.
His previous professional experience outside of ranching includes time spent at Cargill in Byers, Colorado, and GTA Feeds. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1991, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and the Student Senate. He served his country as a member of the South Dakota Army National Guard from 1987-1994.
Burg and his wife, Kim, have two daughters, Sierra and Cheyenne and a son Shawn.
Glen Marshall brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, economic development, and community engagement to the Foundation board, along with a strong dedication to advancing accessible healthcare in rural communities.
Glen served in the U.S. Army, where he was named Best Warrior of the 378th Military Intelligence Battalion in 2010, demonstrating exceptional leadership and commitment. His military background adds to his diverse skill set and aligns with the Foundation’s mission to serve communities with resilience and purpose.
In addition to his military service, Glen has held key roles in nonprofit organizations, including his tenure as CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Rosebud, where he successfully reopened the club after its closure in 2014. He is currently pursuing an MBA and PhD in Sustainability at the University of South Dakota, further emphasizing his dedication to long-term community growth and development.
Glen’s passion for ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare is deeply personal.
“I want families to be able to see a provider without fear of financial catastrophe,” he said. “Anything we can do to reduce this burden for families will be very meaningful.”
