(Howard, SD) – The Horizon Health Foundation would like to welcome Merretta Anderson and Spencer Bloch to its Board of Directors.

Growing up in a rural area, Merretta Anderson understands the importance of access to healthcare in small town South Dakota and feels strongly about helping to preserve this vital resource for community members of all ages. Her dad was the original x-ray and lab technician at the Isabel Community Clinic in the 1980’s and her family is thankful to have had access to so many amazing healthcare workers in their local clinic.

Merretta and her husband, Chance, call Isabel home with their two boys, Gus and Hank. Their boys are growing up as the fourth generation on their family ranch. In her spare time, Merretta loves spending time with her boys and volunteering at numerous community activities. She was extremely proud to be a part of the historic Cowboys Care Bull Bash held in her hometown on July 13, 2024.

Merretta holds a Master’s in Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention and spent 16 years teaching science and serving as an athletic director. During this time, she served on the South Dakota Interscholastic Athletic Administrator (SDIAAA) Executive Committee and as the organization’s president in 2018-2019. After stepping away from the classroom in 2019, Merretta worked as the programs and creative services manager for the South Dakota Beef Industry Council. Currently, Merretta owns her own bakery and catering business, Red Earth Table, and contracts graphic design services to various organizations. Merretta also serves on the Isabel Rodeo Association Board as well as being a member of the Isabel Future Visions and St. Mary’s Church and is a former EMT.  Merretta was also honored to be a part of the Horizons leadership team for the community of Isabel through the Northwest Area Foundation.

Spencer Bloch was drawn to healthcare to help provide quality services to marginalized communities and help expand quality care to all. He is a Finance Business Partner for Mosaic, a healthcare provider tailored for people with disabilities, mental and behavioral health needs and autism, as well as aging adults. He oversees the finance performance of their Midwest region.

Spencer holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Dakota Wesleyan University, as well as a master’s in business administration from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota.
