Horizon Health Foundation receives donation from Huron Community Foundation

Posted on

(HURON, SD) – Horizon Health Foundation recently received a $2,000 donation from Huron Community Foundation to support the James Valley Community Health Center.

The donation will fund upper cabinets for the nurses’ station in the clinic to create a more organized and efficient work station for all 23 employees. In addition, a small couch for the behavioral health tele-medicine room will be provided through the donation. Currently, patients use a folding chair during their behavioral health appointments. This new couch will create a safe and comfortable environment for patients in the clinic.

“The behavioral health couch helps patients be more comfortable when discussing delicate issues with their counselor or psychiatrist,” said Len Wonnenberg, PA-C and provider at James Valley Community Health Center. “The nurses’ station cabinets will help eliminate clutter from the desks and help our clinic look more organized. Our entire staff is grateful to the Huron Community Foundation for its donation to our patients and our clinic.”

With the Huron Community Foundation’s gift, Horizon Health Care’s Huron clinic can continue to provide quality care to all its patients, regardless of ability to pay.

The Horizon Health Foundation was established in 2016 to ensure rural health care access to those in need and provide funding for Horizon Health Care. Horizon Health Foundation, a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation, seeks through responsible activities to encourage and derive sustaining gift support from current and former patients and interested friends, including corporate entities. The Horizon Health Foundation, operating in coordination with Horizon Health Care, is the duly designated fundraising arm for Horizon Health Care.  In the broadest sense, the purpose of the Foundation is to create an awareness of the financial needs of Horizon Health Care, which are not provided by patient charges and to systematically implement plans by which dollar needs can be met.
