HOPE $20,000 Match Challenge Raises Nearly $13,000 for South Dakota Patients

(HOWARD, SD) – Donors across South Dakota joined with Creative Printing of Huron, SD to raise nearly $13,000 for Horizon Health Care patients unable to afford a colonoscopy.

In honor of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March, Creative Printing owners Brad and Laura McGirr partnered with the Horizon Health Foundation to offer the HOPE $20,000 Match Challenge to double gifts to support South Dakota patients.

Sixty-three donors contributed to the challenge, which was designed to raise money for patients, as well as raise awareness about the importance of screenings and how they can save lives. All funds contributed to the challenge were matched by Creative Printing.

“The Foundation Board of Directors, along with our Horizon staff, is grateful for the impact made from this partnership with Creative Printing and the generosity of our donors,” said Tracy Pardy, Horizon Health Foundation Director. “This challenge has been a wonderful example of South Dakota individuals and businesses coming together to make a difference and support their neighbors and colleagues across the state.”

In 2016, over 500 Horizon Health Care patients completed an at-home colorectal cancer screening test. Of those, 119 tested positive and needed a follow-up screening. Funds raised from this match challenge will directly benefit patients and will be used to provide colonoscopies to individuals needing the follow-up screening, but unable to afford it.

The Horizon Health Foundation was formed to pursue the mission of inspiring and empowering patients by providing funding for accessible and affordable health care now and into the future. For more information, please visit http://www.horizonhealthfoundation.com or call 605.772.5907.
