Isabel, SD – The Horizon Health Foundation is thrilled to announce the resounding success of its inaugural Cowboys Care Bull Bash, a unique fundraiser aimed at removing barriers to care for patients and ensuring healthcare remains accessible within the Horizon communities of Isabel, Bison, McIntosh, Eagle Butte, and Faith clinics.

Held on Saturday, July 13th, the event brought together the community in an unprecedented show of support, with more than 100 volunteers coming together to raise over $100,000 after paying all expenses. More than 500 attendees showed up to watch Hunter Johnson (Kadoka) take home $8,000 and a custom gold belt buckle.

"The Cowboys Care Bull Bash is more than just a fundraiser; it's a testament to the spirit of our communities," said Wade Erickson, CEO of Horizon Health. "The incredible support we received underscores the importance of our mission to provide high-quality healthcare close to home. We're deeply grateful for the more than 70 individuals and businesses that made generous donations, demonstrating the community's commitment to keeping healthcare local and accessible."

Tracy Pardy, Executive Director of the Horizon Health Foundation, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the community's generosity and the event's impact. "The success of the Cowboys Care Bull Bash is a reflection of the dedication and generosity of our community members," said Pardy. "We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers and donors who made this event possible. Your support ensures that we can continue to offer essential healthcare services across these communities."

A special highlight of the event was the recognition of Pam Locken for her 40 plus years of service to Horizon Health and the Horizon Health Foundation. Pam devoted her career to healthcare in rural South Dakota, starting as a Medical Receptionist and Billing Associate for Isabel Community Clinic in the 1980s, before moving into the position of CEO and serving as a founding member of the Horizon Health Foundation.

A sincere thank you to all the event sponsors for their unwavering support and dedication to our mission.
