Horizon Health Care Names Melissa Hofer as Chief Financial Officer

(HOWARD, SD) - Horizon Health Care has named Melissa Hofer as chief financial officer of Horizon Health Care, effective July 6, 2021.

Hofer, who currently serves as controller for the organization, will succeed Wade Erickson, who was recently named chief executive officer.

“Melissa has demonstrated strong financial skills and a deep understanding of our mission and organization over the years,” said Wade Erickson, chief financial officer/incoming chief executive officer. “She will be a huge asset to Horizon’s continued success and sustainability in the future.”

Hofer joined the organization 2012 as accounting supervisor. As the organization has grown over the past few years, she was promoted to controller in 2016. In this role, she has led the day-to-day accounting, annual audit, and payroll functions for Horizon.

As chief financial officer, Hofer will lead the overall finance department that includes the organization’s accounting, billing, coding, credentialing, purchasing, and 340B program departments.

Hofer is a Howard, SD, native and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Dakota State University. She resides near Howard with her husband, Randy, and two daughters.
